ALERT - No Meeting on July 2

in honor of the July 4th National Holiday

Our first meeting of the new Rotary Year will be July 9, 2015

Last Week's Program -   We celebrated the end of our Rotary fiscal year 2014-2015 with the family picnic.  It was a good turnout. Those of you who could not attend missed a fun evening with lots of good food.  We held the event in the picnic shelter at Parker's Lake; good thing - we had a little quickie rain cloud that passed over, but we were safe!  Dwain Erickson cooked, and all who attended brought many delicious dishes to share.

The picnic was organized by Steve Juetten, your next President.  Outgoing President Steve made a few comments and noted the Rotary International theme this past year was "Light Up Rotary."  We all did our part, and Steve rewarded the Board Members in attendance with a fitting item for that theme, along with his thanks for their service throughout the year.

You all may remember our card game proceeds and happy fines go to The Rotary Foundation, which allows the Club President to make some Paul Harris Fellowship awards:  one to an outstanding Club Member and one to an outstanding Community Member.  The Community Award will be given later.  The Outstanding Club Member Award was given to NORM OKERSTROM, for his untiring dedication to our Heart Safe Plymouth project.  Norm has been on board since we conducted the first training of Club Members back in the Fall of 2012.  He has handled the training for over 85% of all the training sessions we've conducted.  I was proud to award Norm a new multiple PHF pin for his outstanding service.  It was also fitting that Norm's wife Kim was on hand for the presentation.  Norm, you truly embody the Rotary Motto "SERVICE ABOVE SELF!"  Plymouth Rotary is a better organization because of yur membership!  Thank You!

Incoming President Steve Juetten surprised Outgoing President Steve with a new multiple Paul Harris Fellowship pin for his service this past year.  I was stunned and humbled, but most grateful for the honor to have been able to serve you all.

Heart Safe Plymouth:   We've trained  2,851 people and counting!

REMINDER:  Preview your member profile on the ClubRunner website for accuracy and update any missing data. Contact President Steve Juetten or the Secretary/Club Administrator  with any questions you may have.  To assist, Dwain Erickson and Diane Moyer can shoot smart phone photographs of members whose photos are missing in the Club Membership roster. Is your photo missing??

Youth Exchange News - The first Host Family for our inbound student Guan-Yu Chen coming this August from Taiwan has been secured.  Jason Cardwell and Jill Kohler are still seeking two more host families to accomodate his year with us.  Youth Exchange Officer Jason reports our incoming student is fluent in English.     Jason and Jill  have been extremely effective and instrumental in managing our Youth Exchange program for the Club. Thanks to them for their service!  And please circulate this hosting opportunity to your friends and families in the Wayzata School District.  Anyone who has hosted in the past can relate what a wonderful experience it can be. It would be wonderful if a Plymouth Rotarian would step up to host!

-I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

-You're never to old to learn something stupid.

-To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

-Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
