CLUB NEWS:

Last Week's Program -   Bill Peter, a retired corporate executive, is a consultant on innovation and the future.  He speaks widely on this topic and has formed The Global Innovation Foundation.  He spoke on some interesting points on how human innovation is achieved.  It starts with learning FACTS, then collecting more INFORMATION, applying INTELLIGENCE, which inspires IMAGINATION and by adding COLLABORATION, which results in INNOVATION.  Bill related several examples on how these principals have been applied throughout American history.  He related how applying these principles have worked in our educational system - through elemenary education (learning facts, gathering more information, and engaging our intelligence), then on to secondary education where imagination is stimulated, collaboration with others expands ideas and innovation often results.  Bill made the point that bureaucracy is the enemy of innovation.

Guests:  Dr. Matt Babel and his mother Mary Ellen Babel attended our meeting.  Matt was a Wayzata HS scholarshp recipient from Plymouth Rotary a few years ago.  He is now Doctor Babel and will begin his surgical residency this year at the University of Minnesota. Further demonstration of the wonderful stories and results from our scholarship program. Matt and his mother were guests of Carol Parrish.

Other guests included visiting Rotarians David Bacik from Crystal-New Hope-Robbinsdale and Steve Linder, from Willmar. Prospective members were Megan Kruger, guest of Norm Okerstrom, and Carroll Aasen, guest of Glen Norton.
