This Week's Program:
This week we will hear from Bill King from the Twin City Leadership Academy.  TCLA's mission is to "help prepare and mentor new and emerging leaders for one of the most important journeys of their lives - their leadership journey."  According to its website, http://www.twincitiesleadershipacademy.com/approach.html , the approach TCLA uses "stresses three important leadership principles:  1) Character matters, 2) Leadership takes time, and 3) Preparation needs commitment."   Mr. King will be introduced by Jeff Wosje.

Last Week's Program:
The meeting began with an invocation by Carol Parrish (Carol's invocation was her thoughts of the wonderful October 2 Polio survivor conference).  The guests were introduced by Dwain Erickson.  Dwain also facilitated the card game which had no winners again this week.  Handsome Bob provided the trivia for the week (thank you Bob for filling in).

Our guests this week were our speaker, Sally Abrams and her guest (speaker in training) Marshall Mintz.

President Juetten then made announcements and read the riddles: 1) Because if it was 12 inches it would be a foot, 2) A goose, and 3) A concrete floor doesn't crack easily.  As always, if you would like the actual riddle's you will need to go to the website and look at last weeks bulletin.

President Juetten then introduced Sally Abrams.   Sally Abrams is a lifelong resident of Minnesota, and a graduate of the University of Minnesota.  She co-directs the Speakers Bureau for the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas and has spoken about Israel and/or Judaism in scores of churches, classrooms, and civic groups.  Ms. Abrams is passionate about creating understanding of this complex part of the world and building bridges between the Jewish and non-Jewish communities.  A fluent Hebrew speaker, Sally taught Hebrew for many years as part of the University of Minnesota's College in the Schools Program.  She writes a blog on Israel for the Times of Israel website and is always planning her next trip to Israel.  Sally's talk brought a perspective of the Middle East that many have not had an opportunity to hear in the past.  The members present were quite engaged and ask some great closing questions.

COURAGE KENNY ADAPTIVE SKI PROJECT:
Because of Carol Parrish's great work and apparently ability to control the weather, a number of rotaries showed at Hyland Ski Area to move and clean adaptive ski equipment.   Once moved, the equipment was cleaned and new guide tethers attached.  The work started at 9 am Saturday morning and ended by 11 am.  Plymouth members that helped were Carol Parrish, Brock Peterson, Woody Jewett, Jim Bird, Russ Carlson, Norm Okerstrom, Steve Beachler and Steve Juetten.  Also helping were Rhonda Rea (Adaptive Ski Group), Gordy Lewis (Edina), Dick Moseman (City of Lakes), Marty Proops (friend of Norm), Don Stiles (Bloomington), Dick Parrish (City of Lakes), two close friends of Carol and Dick from Texas, and three members from the Adapted Ski Program.

Roadside Cleanup:
The next and final 2015 Roadside Cleanup will be this Saturday, October 17.  Those that are interested can meet at Perkins at 7:30 for some breakfast.  The actual roadside work will start between 8:45 and 9.  Please put this on your schedule and plan on attending.  An e-mail will be sent with final details this coming week.

Rotary Grant Committee:

The Grant Committee is accepting grant applications which will be considered soon.  Plymouth Rotarians must sponsor each application.  First half grants will be awarded in late November or early December.  Second half grants will be awarded in early Spring, 2016.  Please review the Grant Policy and find the Grant Application Form at  http://rotaryplymouth.org/Page/grants .  The number of Grants to be made is dependent on the amount of funds available which will be known soon.  Contact Past President Steve Beachler if you have questions.

Heart Safe Plymouth:  We have trained 3,086 People and counting!

October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month!

Norm and Russ will be in Waconia and Sauk Rapids this week.  Please consider helping Norm, Russ, Don and Steve with Heart Safe events.  Contact them or talk to them at meetings to find out when upcoming events are scheduled.  They are doing great work, but can always use help from members.

Club Visioning:

In the near future, President Juetten and Peter Bartling will be reaching out to members to invite them to a three to four hour club visioning session that will be facilitated by District 5950 representatives.  This will be a great opportunity for the members to discuss how we can improve and continue to keep members engaged, engage those members that may not be fully engaged and to attract new members.  This should be a great opportunity and the hope is that most, if not all members, can spare the time to participate.

Secretary - Club Administrator:

Murray Death has decided to resign from the club and the position of Secretary.  Because of this we are looking for someone interested in becoming a member of the Board.  President Juetten and President Elect Knight will be reaching out to members to gage interest.  Certainly, if you have interest please reach out to either to discuss the position.

Quarterly Invoices:

New invoices will be sent via e-mail in the next week.  Please pay as soon as possible.  Thank you.
