CLUB NEWS:

Last Week's Program - Terry Kerber, a financial advisor and author, presented a biography from his book about "Major Taylor, The Greatest Legend America Ever Forgot."  Taylor, an African American, became a legendary athlete in America and around the world in Europe and Australia racing bicycles in velodrome venues.  He was born in Chicago in 1895 when bicycle racing and horse racing were predominate spectator sports before auto racing and professional football and baseball.  According to Kerber, he became quite well paid and very well known around the world. Although well known, world events such as WWI and WWII and the automobile, his presence from the headlines began to disappear. A devout Christian, he allegedly lost most of his money to unscrupulous men.  Kerber and his brother researched for a number of years, then wrote the book.

Ricardo Ortizcazarin presented checks to grant recipients, including the  Shelterbox, Northern Star Boy Scount Council, and Maple Grove High Schools Global Outreach program.

James Williams and Jeff Wosje had guests who attended.

Jim Bird, our newest member, returned from San Francisco from visiting his newborn second grandchild.
