Rotary Family Picnic

Parkers Lake Picnic Shelter

Friday, June 26th  5:00 - 7:00 PM

Reminder:  The Family Picnic on Friday replaces our Thursday Luncheon this week. Bring the whole family.  The Club provides the hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, and sodas.  We would ask members to bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert to share.

If you haven't registered yet, please call or email Steve Juetten, so we can properly plan the amount of food needed.

Last Week's Program -   We dedicated our program to Rotary Technology.  Steve Juetten unveiled the new Plymouth Rotary website which will soon replace the website which had been hosted by Ricardo's company. The new website will consolidate our web hosting with ClubRunner, where we have access to a large group of Club management software.  Steve Beachler then reviewed the resources available in ClubRunner.  Don Weber, Foundation Chair, presented several Paul Harris Fellowships and reviewed the overall results of the Club's RI Foundation.  Don announced we have 16 new or new multiple Paul Harris Fellows.  We exceeded our goal of funds contributed to the TRF Annual Fund ($17,204 on a goal of $12,000), Polio Plus ($1,820 raised on a goal of $1,500), and Safe Water Honduras ($4,025 on a goal of $4,000).  The total was $23,049, one of the best Club performances ever. Don also reported we now have 32 Paul Harris Fellows.

Don demonstrated how easy it is to make your TRF contributions on-line through Rotary.org. Of course, you can still send contributions by check through the mail, but the on-line method is still much more efficient.  The Club will be phasing out adding TRF contributions to your quarterly invoice.

Diane Moyer demonstrated how easy it is to set up a Facebook Account, where you can view postings of Club happenings, including photos.

Steve Beachler announced we would soon set up a Linkedin account for the Club. Linkedin is used by business and professional people and would give us another way to attract new members to the Club.

Heart Safe Plymouth:   We've trained  2,883 people and counting!

REMINDER:  Preview your member profile on the ClubRunner website for accuracy and update any missing data. Contact President-elect Steve Juetten or the Secretary/Club Administrator  with any questions you may have.  To assist, Dwain Erickson and Diane Moyer can shoot smart phone photographs of members whose photos are missing in the Club Membership roster. Is your photo missing??

Youth Exchange News - The first Host Family for our inbound student Guan-Yu Chen coming this August from Taiwan has been secured.  Jason Cardwell and Jill Kohler are still seeking two more host families to accomodate his year with us.  Youth Exchange Officer Jason reports our incoming student is fluent in English.     Jason and Jill  have been extremely effective and instrumental in managing our Youth Exchange program for the Club. Thanks to them for their service!  And please circulate this hosting opportunity to your friends and families in the Wayzata School District.  Anyone who has hosted in the past can relate what a wonderful experience it can be. It would be wonderful if a Plymouth Rotarian would step up to host!

PERSONAL This is the last weekly bulletin I will write.   I hope you have enjoyed and found the bulletin useful in keeping you up-to-date.  This is also the last week I will serve as your Club President. I want to publicly thank my Board of Directors and our various committee chairs for  their decisions and support for my administration of the Club. Please give Steve Juetten the same support I have enjoyed.

I feel good about the things we have achieved during this year, but regret there were a few things we did not get done which I will continue to pursue as Immediate Past President.  The Club has many very significant issues to deal with in the upcoming year, and working together we will accomplish much and grow as a Club.  You have heard me treat Rotary as a culture, as a personal good habit; I am a better person for my association with all of you and by observing the principals Rotarians believe: Service Above Self and  the core values shown below.

Thanks to you all; let's make 2015-16 a banner year for Plymouth Rotary!  Steve Beachler
