Stay Healthy and help each other if only a phone call.
Speaker this Week:
At this point no future speakers are scheduled until further notice. Please go to the Club website for up to date information.
However.....
Each of you should have received an invite from Kevin R. to connect virtually through Zoom each Thursday. The Fourth Thursday of the month will be a Club meeting and the other Thursday's are for members to say hi to each other. If you haven't received the e-mail from Kevin or lost it, please reach out to him.
This past Thursday was the first virtual get together and those that "attended" each had an opportunity to talk about what they are doing during these strange times and what they are thankful for.

A few members of the Club, on the lead of Carrol P., are working to provide support to some of our local care facilities. One way this support is happening is through the use of grant dollars to purchase two iPads that will be donated to Mission, Inc. located just north of Medicine Lake off of East Medicine Lake Blvd and Cherrywood Pointe, located just east of the Old Rockford Road along Hwy 55 intersection. Deliveries of the iPads will be this Thursday afternoon.
The Board of Directors are monitoring the situation daily and are looking at all options to hold meetings (either in person or through an online opportunity). As more information becomes available direct e-mails will be sent.

Plymouth Brewfest is ON!
Join us Sunday, July 26th from 2pm to 5pm at the Plymouth Creek Center (14800 34th Avenue N., Plymouth) to enjoy great beverages from local brewers and distilleries, music and entertainment, plus food. Proceeds benefit Plymouth Heart Safe....a partner with the American Heart Association that provides FREE CPR and AED training.
Plymouth Heart Safe and Rotarians, Norm Okerstrom and Russ Carlson were awarded the "Chiefs Award" at the annual Plymouth Police event on Thursday, March 5th. Both Norm and Russ have been instrumental in the success of Plymouth Heart Safe with more than 6,300 individuals having been trained in life-saving CPR and AED. "I am gratified to know that the effort we are making is appreciated by Mike Goldstein and the City of Plymouth", says Carlson.
We have trained 6,230 people and counting!
Russ, Norm, Don and team continue to train and impact the local community.
Linked to this is a story about Hands Only CPR performed by a daughter to her mom recently in MPLS. Also note, dispatch assisted w telephone CPR..very cool!
At the December 12, 2019, Board meeting the Board had a lengthy discussion on membership and the need to engage the current membership in recruiting new members. Based on this discussion, the Board approved a new program: If a current member recruits a new member and that member signs on for a full pay membership the current member will receive a one quarter waiver on dues. The definition of a full pay member is a member that pays dues and meals on a quarterly basis, not pay-as-you go. If you have questions, please ask either James or Peter.

From the District (or other Clubs):
March 2020 newsletter from District Governor (Link)
April 2020 newsletter from District Governor (Link)
From: Steve Johnson, Grant Management Seminar (GMS) Administrator
Re: GMS now Online
Due to the restrictions of person to person contact to limit the spread of the Coronavirus the previously scheduled Grant Management Seminars (GMS) have been moved online. Because of time restraints we are sending registration information to all District 5950 Rotarians. This unusual mass emailing is due to the fact the many clubs have restricted or canceled regular meetings. We want to train as many Rotarians as possible before the beginning of the next year starting July 1, 2020. Each club should have at least one member trained to qualify for matching funds.
There is no cost to participate. Please review the new updated schedule below. The pathway to register on the district website (www.district5950.org) can be found under the schedule grid.
If you have registered for any of the upcoming dates your registration remains in effect. Note the changes in start times and/or duration. An addition session has been added in the middle of May replacing the earlier canceled event. Each session has a limit of 20 participants.
All clubs must have one trained member in order to obtain matching funds for local and/or Global projects. This training provides the tools to do just that. Your club may leverage its dollars by a factor of 3 ½ to 7 times or more.
Two refresher sessions are offered to individuals who have been trained in the past two years. Complete sessions are open to all Rotarians. Your club can register multiple participants at no additional cost.

Rotary and Toastmasters:
Rotary is proud to be working with Toastmasters International, a leading international educational organization that helps its members become more effective speakers, communicators, and leaders.
This new collaboration is designed to enhance your membership experience, as well as help you expand your network, develop your leadership and communication skills, and make an even bigger impact in your community.
There are many ways your club can get involved with the Toastmasters collaboration. To start, find a Toastmasters club and arrange a visit, or invite a Toastmasters member to one of your club service activities or social events.
We expect that interest in joining Rotary may be sparked by this new alliance and urge district and club leaders to quickly follow up with any prospective members.
A) Our giving is picking up and we are slightly ahead of our FYE 2019 giving.
- So far 9 members have made their annual contribution (Thank You!), we are around 40% of our goal of $365/member.
- If you want to get your donation in this calendar year, we are down to about 10 days.
- Just go to Rotary.org -sign in and make your donation with a credit card.
B) Please give some thought to nominating a Paul Harris Fellowship for one of our Members who you feel is deserving and one non-Member who exemplifies the Spirit of Rotary. We’ll talk more about this after the first of the year.

Rotary International Membership Chair Video:
On March 6, 2020, the listed Rotary International club Membership Chairs held a video conference on membership. We recorded the webinar and a link sent to all the Membership Chairs which could not attend. I hope you or your club had an opportunity to review the material. The one-hour video not only contains an update of our membership numbers and our lead program, but also in their own words how the top four clubs increase their membership in only a few months. The membership chairs also received templates of club documents and outlines of different membership models used by these top clubs. The information provided in the video and documents will lead your club to a successful membership campaign if you put it into action. Let’s end the year with a bang.
Please review this link and ask your Membership Chairs about the documents.
